O Rings

Kemtron supplies a complete range of British Standard and Metric range of O-Rings.

Effective and Versatile use of O Rings

O-Rings are a widely used seal in industry because they are inexpensive, effective and versatile.  They are suitable for both static and dynamic applications.  The seal is made from a variety of elastomer materials suitable for different environments and temperatures, and it is important to choose the O-Ring made with a material that is appropriate for the purpose.

What are O-Rings used for? O-Rings are used to seal a joining of two pieces to ensure that no gas or liquid can pass.  The O-Ring is fitted into a groove and designed to resist pressure.  The resistance prevents gas or liquid from escaping or entering the joining.  Whenever two pieces of a machine are connected, there is a risk that gas or liquid substance could leak through the area where the two edges meet.  Where the two pieces connecting are round, such as piping, an O-ring can be a cost effective solution.  An O-Ring can seal the joint to ensure that no gas or fluid can enter or escape.  As joints can be the weakest spot in a piece of machinery, a high quality O-Ring made from the correct substance can protect and ensure longevity of your machinery and applications.

It is important to understand the material an O-Ring is made of.  At Kemtron we can supply special sizes which can be manufactured (cord and vulcanised joint) from a variety of materials such as Nitrile (NBR), Viton, EPDM, Silicone, PTFE, Chemraz, Neoprene and Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene (FEP) encapsulated (SIlicone/Viton). We hold an extensive selection of O’Rings at our factory for immediate dispatch.

O-Rings do not last forever and we recommend that you hold some spares in stock.  At Kemtron we can also supply you with your own instant O-Ring making kit to deal with emergency leaks which you can use while you wait for any replacement stock.
